eBay releases ecommerce guide for Indian users..
eBay India has released an ecommerce guide for educating Indian internet users. I have been informed about this by Sneha Deshpande, who works with Ebay’s marketing/communications team. The guide aims to spread awareness and educate Indians on the various aspects of ecommerce and how it simplifies their day-to-day lives. Additionally, it has references to technology trends and resources, to assist consumers in understanding the newer developments in ecommerce. It exposed me to terms like G2B & G2C for the first time. Well designed and easy to understand resources about the consumer internet space in India are rare to come by; in this regard, the efforts of a private organization like EBay to educate Indians about the internet in general, and ecommerce in particular, are commendable. You can download a copy of the guide from this link.

Rather timely that you posted about this, considering that we were just discussing buying some computer accessories from online Indian vendors yesterday.
I took a look at the pdf. I really think a pdf does not cut it. ebay India needs to think more creatively - I think a blog where they can have ongoing conversations with people who interested in buying/selling online but have doubts about the process would be much more effective. People can ask questions, post comments, share experiences etc. It would be great to have someone from eBay India address different issues related to this topic - this would be much more useful than a pdf.

More than anything, I downloaded the pdf to figure out G2C. Geez, Gov 2 “Citizen”!!! I was thinking Consumer
How on earth could I’ve thought of a Govt serving “Consumers”

Hi,
First of all, its good to see Ebay do something like this. Congratulations to them on thinking ahead.
I agree with Rashmi, when she says that a better way of doing this would be to start a blog. Distributing a PDF over the internet will always be a problem, so while its content is good, it may actually never be seen by many people. Whereas a blog is so simple and approachable. And there is no blog in India dedicated to ecommerce. So that could also work in Ebay’s favour.
