Geek Speak…. get the lingo right while you can!
This slide deck should be very handy for wannabe geeks, their friends, spouses et al who probably scratch their head in frustation every time they hear such arcane geek speak. Well, your life just became easier, for this Oracle AppsLab guy has compiled this awesome deck explaining some of the most commonly used geek lingo (think FTW, LOL, w00t, N00b). Check it out below… I must admit, I learnt quite a few new things here…
Not just lingo, there’s a partial treatment of internet memes (Lolcatz) as well.

Glad you liked the slides. In my session, I plan to cover two of the primary sources for geek-speak: 1) as shorthand and 2) from memes.
In both cases, it serves as a way for communication between geeks, keeping outsiders puzzled (hence the title).
The section on lolcats covers a few major themes, e.g. can has, has a, falvr, want/do not want, nom, basement/ceiling cat, doin it wrong, invisible, in ur base killin ur doods, caturday.
Should be a fun session. I’m hoping for a nice mix of geeks and non-geeks to make it fun. Thanks.
