Twitter, Twitter on the wall… who’s the coolest of them all?
Beware! This one is REALLY stupid. I allow myself the indulgence of one comic/silly blogpost a month on Webyantra .. this surely shuts out the quota for Nov.
A bunch of Indian Twitter maniacs are running a public vote (via what else but Twitter) for selecting the Indian TwitterGuru. Wondering what’s that? Well the Indian TwitterGuru is the most popular twitter user from India. And by popular, whats meant is not the user with the most tweets, but rather the one who’s so popular on twitter, that everyone loves him.
To participate, head over to the website iTwote.com for details… to vote for someone, you need to send tweets in the format @itwote #twitterguru @yournomineename.
Nominations close tomorrow and voting the next day.
So if you are wondering who’s leading the race, check out the iTwote blog… these are the current leaders : @dhempe (24 nominations), @vimoh (19 nominations), @aDeSe (10 nominations), @preshit (8 nominations), @sathyabhat (7 nominations).
And whats the prize on offer? The website does not mention anything… don’t think the winners would need anything more than vainglorius 10 minutes of fame this might land them on the twittersphere!

hahahaha. I’ve been seeing a lot of activity on Twitter about this. It is funny. Wonder what wisdom the TwitterGuru will impart to us in his acceptance tweet??? :-p

But credit must be given where it’s due… this looks like a new idea… haven’t heard of this before… in fact this might be a smart public voting mechanism for other kinds of polls as well…

LOL.. and you didnt see the way some campaigning is going on here!
BTW just to put in some history perspective, this thing started when Obama won the elections and a quest for Indian twitter president started here (http://preshit.net/twitterpresidentofindia.html).. some names got nominated by users wrt who they thought popular and some voting happened. Then the 3 behind itwote.com decided to make it more “process oriented” and hence the whole site and nominations and now even voting!
And since this process has been lasting since eternity now (:P) .. ppl have all the time to campaign and what not

Well, I would still call it a very innovative concept. Its good, more so because in 2 years of its existence no one has thought of it.
The concept is more to do with fun and is more like the poke thing on facebook. And I am enjoying it.
If professionalized a bit, this concept can definitely be used to run small polls.

This one had me lol’ing for a while. It surely is innovative concept that uses hashtags (hashtags.org) to count votes of the people involved.
The website design and logo are also very professionally built. Kudos to the people involved!
