Join the “PinkChaddi campaign”…

by Amit Ranjan on February 10, 2009

I read about this in the Times of India today…. surprised to find someone has taken the trouble of putting this into a slideshow… and uploading to slideshare… take a look.

As for the debate, while what the saffron brigade is doing is highly deplorable and needs utmost condemnation, the issue does have a highly urban, metropolitan, upper-class bias… not sure if amongst all the ills that afflicts India, this deserves the kind of publicity (in mainstream media) that is being accorded to it.

“the issue does have a highly urban, metropolitan, upper-class bias… not sure if amongst all the ills that afflicts India, this deserves the kind of publicity” ….. ??????

Now this is the last thing a sensible bunch of neurons would have mustered to say!
Completely agree with the fact that we are ripped into the urban n the rural halves, but it’s not necessarily the way you are looking at it,

And when it comes to comparing with other issues, this is what fucks up everything never compare, we all know we have more grave things to question, and tackle but right now we need to send a clear message to these useless bunch of people who claim to represent the larger opinion of our society and dictate whats culturally correct! if the leaders can stand a debate and face a bunch of my tenth grade kiddo friends we will let them have their say. Brutes need to be reminded we the young, urban class ain’t just busy making money paying taxes and fueling their vote bank policies we can snap, we can protest and we too vote.
It’s time they re-check their validity in today’s scenario.

I agree that the act of the saffron brigade should be condemned. But the way this internet based group chooses to protest (by sending ‘pink chaddis’), reaffirms the ‘elitist’, urban-rural divide even in protesting…. seems like bankrupcy of ideas…

I am a proud Indian woman, who amongst everything is proud of the freedom and values it more than anyone.

Indian Youngsters are the most smartest and thoughtful people in the whole world. They work hard and party harder. Shiv Sena, BJP and now this Ram Sene only wants political mileage but they are underestimating the youth power. If you are really concerned guys, go and join the Indian Armies, protest against the use of plastic bags, help create more jobs during the recession and then see the power you will have… not by creating unwanted nonsense.

If you can, try beating up one woman on the road by yourself all alone and not in gangs… you probably might be bruised black and blue along with bangles in your hands. SHAME ON YOU

What is Pink Condom campaign?

This campaign has been started as a response to some self righteous and progressive people who started the Pink Chaddi campaign. Their chaddi campaign ends on Valentine’s Day of 2009, but this is just a beginning for us.

We are more democratic and transparent that the Pink Chaddi walas. We don’t claim inflated figures of support. There is a poll at the right hand corner of this page, which shows how many people support us, and how many don’t!

zainuddin February 11, 2009 at 6:37 am

i personally feel sena ppl r a bunch o no good narrow minded assho’s who hav nunn else to do but act out the social watchdog scam hidden behind which is say of the politicians that they r acting out….

vipul February 11, 2009 at 10:28 am

I am really ashamed about these kinds of ppl..they are simply mentally retarted ppl .. and i dun know why the hell they are calling them “Ram sena”… they cant see the miseries of orphan kids, they curruption, the pot holes on roads, women getting beaten by their in laws and lot of other ill stuffs which are staring right into our eyes but they see the outfits…..who the hell are they to decide what we should do…
they should better go and ask their mother that wat they are doing is good or not

dibyajyoti deb February 11, 2009 at 4:20 pm

I think this pink chaddi campaign is great thing that has been started.. The Sena’s rightful place is in our asses. Eat shit ! I guess doing something like this is gonna bring the safron baboons to their senses

vinod verma February 11, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Mutalik follows Indian Culture. He does not wear Chaddi which campaigners are sending him. Pink chaddi is western in design and culture. He uses Langot with his Langotia yaars.

By the way who is this Mutalik, what is his background, qualification, experience and family background. Does he have children? If yes I feel pity for them to have such a narrow minded, hypocrite father.

Auedy February 11, 2009 at 6:23 pm

A few of the things that come to my mind.
1. What if the 2 persons are already married?? Or better still, the girl get a mangalsutra (Fake one of black beeds for Rs. 50/-) and wears the same?
2. It is real fun for ppl who want to run and get married.. just stand in front of the goons they will take care of the whole marraige..!!
3. Just heard that Mr. Muthalik has replied to the pink chaddi canpaign with return gift of sarees… Hope that it has a matching blouse piece or else the girls would have to go topless and that definitely is not in “Indian Cunlure”

hs February 12, 2009 at 6:35 am

i think that these political parties are useless and they dont have any other issues to look after….the govt should take serious actions against them and if they cant…indian “janta” can do the honour for the govt….these people should not be allowed on our streets…they are shame for our society….

B.K.SRIVASTAVA February 12, 2009 at 12:05 pm

Raj Chacko February 14, 2009 at 7:35 am

Kudos to all you Women and Men out there who came up with this campaign and put brakes on Muthalik and his nonsense. Its because of you people that they have toned down their rhetoric.I salute your guts and initiative. Meanwhile have a great Valentine’s Day!!!!

Cheers
Raj

Tasneem February 14, 2009 at 11:25 am

If Hooliganism is what Muthalik’s parents have taught him, then so be it.

I wish they had inculcated values of respect and tolerance in him. There are so many social, political, and legal ills in society. Instead of contributing to a good cause he is acting like a ‘demented person’. Three cheers to him and his family. Please forward my gift of ‘Pink Chaddis’ to them all.

Hey Amit, IndiBlogger is collecting blog posts on various topics – could you add this blog post to the collection? Thanks!

This is what is going on in the name of tradition.Going to pub is not our culture but beating mercilessly is our culture. These are the people if the came into power they will start burning women in the name of tradition. But more surprising women did not protest against it more forecefully. In women colleges the girls should have shoown their strength so that those who protect these roadmasters could not do it again in future. visit -yukrand.blogspot.com
