I’ve been meaning to get back to blogging.
Its been a hiatus of 4 years since I last blogged. The web has changed so much. Facebook, Twitter rule the social web.. YouTube is unassailable in video… Delicious, Slide are dead… Flickr, Digg, Ning are also rans. SlideShare is now part of LinkedIn, which is rocking professional networking. There are countless new kids on the block. And blogging itself is past its prime. Hard to imagine!

Serious blogging continues as before (thankfully!) … in fact it has grown.
Casual blogging has lost to microblogs, photoblogs, Facebook newsfeeds etc.
I beleive that what you mean by ‘blogging is past its primetime’ is that it is no more hobby, to pass time.
After a passage of FOUR (!) years, Is it that you see blogging a more sincere form of expression of free thought or It it that people who have ‘serious’ occupations need explore other platforms for expression of thier views on those ‘serious’ matters or Is it that other social media forrmats have taken over the space?
It would be intersting to know your informal as well as structured, considered views…..

I think blogging has splintered into its sub-parts: (opinion based) blogging, microblogging (Twitter/facebook), photoblogging (tumblr). If blogs started as a “personal diary”, that diary is probably now the twitter or facebook newsfeed.
By serious blogging, I meant opinion based blogging.
I am surprised that you consider Blogging to be past its prime. For me it is a medium which is still evolving, especially as more and more people become involved and express themselves either through their own Blogs or through those provided by such services as WordPress, Tumblr and Blogger.
